about

Following the release of the spirited single "Walls," during spring of 2017, "Move On" reveals a more melodic and story-driven side of Old Coast. The song ambiguously follows a broken home and captures the spirit of longing and heartache, featuring alternating vocal leads by Asher Deaver and Nik Singleton.

lyrics

Let me move on, let me move.
This old county living doesn't feel right.
I ain't digging for gold and I ain't carrying stones.
Pain now is raining down on people I know,
I guess famine isn't easy for anyone.
Two steps further down a county road.
Honey get home, better get home.
Your daddy isn't talking since your mama left him
With two little boys and a sister at home.
Summer time growing and the heather is growing,
Well I know I had a chance I just didn't go for it.
It's the right thing to do, why do you feel like you lose?

Honey I want to sing with you tonight.
Holding your body next to mine like we used to do.

You're heading tonight to the county cross roads.
Devil or not I guess you're getting there soon.
Well, someone's got to make a little money for food.
So honey get home, better get home.
Your daddy isn't talking since your mama left him
With two little boys and a sister at home.
You're in a hotel room and you left the light on.
It doesn't feel much like a living, though
You're better off now than you could have been anyway.
Leaning out the window as the car drove away
And I guess loving isn't easy for anyone.
How could somebody lose one of the few things they crave?

Honey I want to dance with you through the room,
Holding your body next to mine like we used to do.
Oh honey I want to speak with you tonight.
I'm holding my hands in my pockets, I will wait outside.
